# Bill a project

> Collect logged time into an invoice: standard, partial, advance or final.

The **Bill project** wizard collects a project's unbilled time and milestones into an invoice draft, with the statement of hours attached if you want it.

## Run the wizard

1. Open the project and click **Bill project**.
2. **Invoice type**: **Standard**, **Partial (Teilrechnung)**, **Advance (Abschlag)** or **Final (Schlussrechnung)**. For an advance, give the **Net amount** or the **% of project budget**.
3. **What to bill**: tick the time entries and milestones to include. **Select all** takes everything unbilled.
4. **Line grouping**: **By task & rate**, **By person**, **By day**, **By month**, **Single lump sum** or **By service**. The workspace default is set under Settings → General.
5. Tick **Attach timesheet (Leistungsnachweis)** to add the statement of hours, add a **PO reference** if the client needs one, and click **Continue**.
6. The draft opens. Check it and [finalize](/help/billing/invoices/).

If the amount exceeds the budget, the wizard says so before the draft is created. If the project already has invoices, it lists them and asks you to confirm another one.

## Advance and final invoices

For fixed-price work, bill advances during the job and a final invoice at the end. The final invoice deducts the advances already billed and shows the remaining amount due.

## Rates

Each entry is valued at its **Captured rate**, else the **Service rate**, the **Person rate** or the **Project rate**. A mix shows as **Mixed rates**. See [Rate cards](/help/settings/rate-cards/).

## Write-off

Time you will not charge is written off on the project's Billing tab. It stays visible in the budget burn and in Reports as unbilled, but never reaches an invoice.
