Document templates
Every PDF the app produces comes from a Word template. The default templates work out of the box; replace them with your own to get your logo, colours and layout.
Start from the defaults
Section titled “Start from the defaults”Under Settings → Templates, click Create default templates (DE + EN). You get a quote, an invoice and a dunning template in both languages. Download one to see how it is built.
Build your own template
Section titled “Build your own template”- Open the downloaded template in Word, or start from your own letterhead.
- Place placeholders where the data goes, for example
{{Invoice.Number}},{{Invoice.IssueDate}},{{Client.Name}}or{{Totals.Gross}}. Line items go into a table whose row repeats per line:{{Items.Description}},{{Items.Quantity}},{{Items.UnitPrice}},{{Items.NetAmount}}. - Save as
.docxand Upload .docx under Settings → Templates. - Choose what the template is Bound to: Quote, Invoice, Project, Dunning notice or Custom record. A bound template fills its placeholders from that record; the template page lists them and marks the required ones.
- Render a test document from an existing record to check the result.
Which template is used
Section titled “Which template is used”Each binding has a default. For quotes, pick the default template on the templates page; a quote can also be sent with another template. Invoices use the invoice default.
Output
Section titled “Output”Documents render as PDF, and as Word where the document is still a draft. Finalized invoices carry the embedded e-invoice, see E-invoices. Fonts render as installed on the server; stick to common fonts or embed them in the template.
